In case of a defective device we would like to ask you to contact your local sales person.
Of course Neutrik does support you. The first step would be to contact the local sales person and describe your current problem. Our application engineers will help you designing a proper wireless setup and guide you through this process.
By registering to our XIRIUM Newsletter you get the latest information about software changes and firmware updates.
Carry out the following steps to find out which firmware you have:
Note! You need to install the CP210x USB to UART Bridge Driver for the XIRIUM Configurator to detect the portables, provided within the downloaded zip file of the XIRIUM Configurator. For the touring units use the data cable NKX-Data which is also available as an accessory.
All operations can be carried out using the software. In addition it’s possible to change the IP address, activate a mute-lock of the devices as well as change the gain in 1 dB steps.
The system was tested by Montena EMC according to electromagnetic compatibility and radio communication and has achieved following standards.
- en_301893v.1.6.1
- en_301489-1.v.1.9.2
- en_301489-17.v.2.1.1
The approval for electrical safety is the standard en60950-1 certified by TÜV Austria.
This depends strongly on the application. According to practical examples and feedback of our customers up to 80 % of the installation time and costs can be saved. Customers reported that they have amortized the investment within 5 events.
The devices are linked with the push of a button and ready to go within 3 seconds and the memory function allows quick future set-ups.
By using our battery pack the operating duration can be increased up to 15 hours.
The mobile units are powered by 4 x 1,5 V batteries (type AA) and last for 5 hours.
For the correct combination of antennas and appropriate cables please refer to the XIRIUM manual on the XIRIUM product site. The technical data for all antennas are listed there as well.
Once a „line of sight“ can’t be set up due to the placement of the devices, we recommend to use remote antennas, placed nearby and connected via an antenna cable. For the correct combination of antennas and appropriate cables please refer to the XIRIUM manual.
By using one TRX base station in conjunction with four TX it is possible to save four cable runs. If you build up a Master-Slave Setup with 4x3 RX for each TRX (broadcasting) the maximum of 24 cable runs can be replaced.
A direct connection between the mobile units is not possible.
The XIRIUM is configured to be a bidirectional system. The TRX base station is therefore the access point for all the clients and the clock synchronizing master.
Since XIRIUM works in the 5GHz band no license is necessary.
The Link LEDs indicate the connection status:
Red - No Connection
Orange – Bad connection
Green – Good connection
For a solid transmission in the 5 GHz band we recommend a line-of-sight installation of the antennas due to the fact that short wavelengths carry the audio signal. In case a line of sight installation can’t be established, the range within the system is working depends strongly on reflections in the room. Choosing the right antenna for the specific application has to be considered.
The 5GHz frequency band eliminates the need for time-consuming approval processes and extensive channel management. Furthermore analog UHF systems use a compander which influences the sound quality in a negative way.
The XIRIUM transmission works without data compression. The impressive technical data demonstrate the high level sound quality:
- 24bit / 48kHz
- 20Hz - 20kHz
- SNR >105dB
If they are working within the normal standard 802.11, they have no influence on the transmission quality. The XIRIUM System is informing all other devices in the frequency band that this frequency is in use by XIRIUM.
An adaptive mute is implemented. Therefore no disturbing signal occurs.
Diversity is a technique used to improve the reliability of a radio transmission. In the XIRIUM Setup the TRX basestation switches between the two antennas within a given time pattern to increase the probability to receive all data packages in a reflective environment.
The Concealment algorithm enables to reconstruct up to 17 lost data packages. This special protocol reverts to the transmitted redundant data packages and calculates the missing parts.
Forward Error Correction enables to adjust occurred errors. This is based upon redundant data packages, which are transmitted in addition to the signal. The forward error correction was expanded by Neutrik with the Concealment algorithm.
If the antennas can be placed “line of sight” the basis for a solid transmission is set. Furthermore the quality of the transmission is improved by the use of redundant samples (forward error correction) in conjunction with a masking method (concealment algorithm).
200mW (equivalent isotropically radiated power)
For a solid transmission in the 5 GHz band we recommend a line-of-sight installation of the antennas. Thus transferring the signals up to 300 meters (980 feet) is possible. In case a line of sight installation can’t be established, the range within the system is working depends strongly on reflections in the room.
The delay of the audio signal is fixed to only 3msec.
Generally XIRIUM is looking for the safest frequency automatically. As of firmware 1.1 it is possible to change the frequency manually by the use of an HMI event. Please refer to the XIRIUM manual. This is also possible via the software “XIRIUM Configurator”.
XIRIUM runs on the U-NII-1Band 5.15 - 5.25 GHz band. The XIRIUM system is able to transmit four audio channels within one frequency channel. In a Master-Slave Setup two frequency channels are used. There are 4 frequency-channels available:
Channel-Nr. | Center frequency |
Channel 36 | 5180 MHz |
Channel 40 | 5200 MHz |
Channel 44 | 5220 MHz |
Channel 48 | 5240 MHz |
DIWA stands for Digital Wireless Audio and indicates a digital data transmission without data compression and provides high-level sound quality. Though wireless, the audio signals are transmitted by DIWA in cable quality (24bit /48kHz) and sample accurate. A transmission and receiving protocol specifically developed for DIWA as well as patented error correction functions guarantee a robust and noiseless transmission of the data packet and best functionality.
The XIRIUM Configurator is provided on our website in the download area including the ability to update the firmware.
At the moment the system only supports Windows.
There are a lot of reviews of clients using the XIRIUM system. Please refer to the XIRIUM product page on our website to view different applications and the customer feedback.
Due to European regulatories this frequency band can only be used indoors. Within this restriction there are many possible applications. Whenever it is required to transmit an audio signal wirelessly in studio quality.
